Zbur Applauds Settlement in Paramount–Warner Bros. Discovery Merger

For immediate release:

SACRAMENTO, CA – Assemblymember Rick Chavez Zbur (D–Hollywood) issued the following statement:

"I'm grateful to Attorney General Bonta and all parties involved for coming to the table and reaching a settlement on the Paramount–Warner Brothers Discovery merger. As the Assemblymember representing Hollywood, one of my highest priorities is to maintain and grow high-wage, family-sustaining jobs in California's home-grown, world-class film and entertainment industry. While I'm relieved to know a settlement has been reached, there is still much more work to do to ensure that California maintains its leadership, and that the workers and small businesses who are the backbone of this industry continue to thrive. I will continue to fight for these high-wage, high-skill jobs and the small businesses that are part of this crucial and iconic industry in California. That is why I'm chairing the Select Committee on Growing and Retaining the Creative Economy in California, which Speaker Robert Rivas recently appointed, and which will be holding a hearing in October to make sure that California remains the world leader in the film and television industry."

Assemblymember Rick Chavez Zbur serves as the Democratic Caucus Chair for the California State Assembly and represents the 51st Assembly District, which includes Universal City, Hollywood, Hancock Park, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Westwood, West Los Angeles, Santa Monica, and other portions of Los Angeles.
