SACRAMENTO, CA - Democratic Caucus Chair and Assemblymember Rick Chavez Zbur (D–Hollywood) today released a statement condemning the harassing and violent actions of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents across the United States.
"Yesterday, my office received multiple reports of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) activity in the 51st Assembly District, including in Hancock Park, the Melrose District, and West Hollywood. I unequivocally condemn ICE's harassing and violent activities — entering peaceful communities and terrorizing people living their daily lives. This agency's callous actions do not make us safer — they spread fear and undermine trust between residents and the institutions meant to serve them.
"This comes on the heels of deeply disturbing news out of Minneapolis, where 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good was shot in the head and killed by an unidentified masked agent during an ICE operation. Renee leaves behind a partner and three children. This horrific killing demands an independent investigation, full transparency, and accountability for every person involved.
"This is a frightening moment for our country. This is not an isolated incident; the Trump Administration has dramatically increased funding to grow an agency that is acting with impunity as a secret police force, abducting and killing immigrants and U.S.-born citizens alike with no accountability. Americans are rightly terrified, and they should be equally outraged.
"I have in my heart today the Good family, as well as the individuals and families affected by these raids. If you witness ICE activity, you can report it using the resources below:

- ACLU of Southern California: aclusocal.org | (213) 977-9500

Please stay informed, know your rights, and continue looking out for one another."
